FAQ

To help you better understand my involvement in the ride, here are some frequently asked questions;

  1. What Are You Doing? I am riding a bicycle with an veteran/artist collective called A.Ride.Till.The.End (ARTTE) which conducts a veteran led cycling tour for peace. Specifically, this leg of the ride is called Bikes Not Bombs.
  2. Why Are You Doing It? From what I understand, many soldiers are coming home from combat with a great list of problems arising from wartime. A growing number of whom are actively resisting the wars on moral grounds. As we move to support our service members in wartime, we must also move to support their resistance to it. I am committed to being a part of the community that will respect service members when they choose to resist war, encourage them for their decision, and actively support their work and their message.
  3. Who Are The Soldiers Who Are Resisting And How Did You Find Out About Them? Through the outreach of an organization called the Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW)  , a veteran only organization, I learned about veterans and active duty service members resisting the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Inspired, I sought out ways in which I could aid in their work. I found a civilian ally organization that works closely with the IVAW called Civilian/Soldier Alliance.  I have been doing work within the GI resistance movement since the launching of IVAW's first national campaign known as Operation Recovery, which is ongoing. I learned about ARTTE at the IVAW annual convention in Austin, TX in 2010. I asked to join the ride in spring, 2011.
